RE: Titanium )wners - What's your MPG

you guys make me feel good, looks like it more the truck than the rig
i can pull a respectable 12 in hilly areas and 13 on flat lands running 67-70
and we scale out at 24k loaded very often
i often wonder if the titanium frnt cap was as good as it looks??

so far i havent had any issues with height,, although there is one low bridge at 13'9" that scared me to death as i went under,
i watch gas stations ans parks real close

RE: Replace carpet in 5th with 3 slides with vinyl or pergo

There was a similar question in a post a few days ago. There were some really good pointers and pictures. Look for the post. One suggestion was something sold at Home Depot (don't remember the name now). I checked at the local Home Depot and it looks like some pretty good stuff. Again check the other post about a week or two back.
we did it with "allure" which is made for home depot and its been a godsend for keeping the dog hair vacummed up and looks great
we actually gained some carrying capacity when we were through
i have pictures if you need

RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. Some people say there are two types of 5th wheelers, those who have dropped, and those who will soon.
Do you know what the problem was? What kind of hitch do you have?
i dont agree, after 12 years i have never not checked my hithc for complete latching, and my reese wont let me lock the handle if the jaws are not latched.
right before the tailgate goes up the latch gets eyeballed to complete closure
then a padlock on the release handle.
sorry to hear this guy dropped the rig, ouch is right

RE: Texas Trailer Inspection

i did last year when we registered it in texas
even had to get it weighed OH BOY
anywho
there are so many conflicting rules on it, i plan to forego the inspection sticker this year and just redo the tags.
my inspection last year was silly
he checked the lights and turn signals and vin verification becuase it was new to the state.
so this year i plan to slide through if possible

RE: My perspective on fuel cost

thats a pretty good "i feel better speach" thanks
we look at it preety similiar
on trips to go see teh grandkids and we stay at their hse we take the car 26 mpg and comfy
two nights hotel inroute = 200 bux if i find a laquinta for the pups
on rv trips we still get 12-13 pulling and take along our whole five star suite
we have just decided we will do 250-300 miles per day and stay longer in one place to off set teh sticker shock somewhat
thanks for your positive outlook

RE: cedar creek vs Carriage Cameo

been fulltiming in our creek since july 05
other than the carpet wearing out from the pups and grandkids, its been an outstanding unit, we looked at many upper end and midies. but bang for buck we came back to the creek.

RE: flooring options

Today i went to my favorite TOY store and go the flooring that is set to replace teh carpet in the RV.
i figured i would start with the smallest space, the slide for the computer and TV,
snapped a few before and after carpet removal, hopefully tomorrow i can get some of the new resilent vinyl stuff "allure" put down.
i am not sure if the Fireplace is going back in, i dont use it much and when i need some added heat i plug in a nice tower ceramic heater that flat cooks you in a few minutes.
oh i have a few AIR leaks to seal and some wiring tidying up, patch the alum material they stapled 1.3 million times to the wood sub floor
did i mention the staples, WOW talk about excessive
have to figure out where to put the pics so far

RE: Tow-Haul Mode

tow haul for us is a big helper
it downshifts and helps slow us down stopping
and it does hold longer to upshift
and with cruise its fantastic
but it is a ford so i geuss i am biased

RE: Dual Panes versus Astrofoil: Which is More Beneficial?

Go with the thermo-pane glass. Our previous trailers had single pane but this time around we special ordered thermo-pane glass and a second air conditioner. We took delivery in September after the hot, hot weather but we could still tell a big difference in cooling even though a much larger trailer. During my annual December deer hunting trip I had absolutely no condensation on the inside glass and it was much easier to heat.
us to cept the condensation is killer around the two emergency windows
i did add extra fam seles to the egress windows to stop the cld flow of air, but they still cndensate bad if i dont run the dehumidifier.

RE: Define full timing

we retired. we have a small "house" that meets the standard for a "house" with our insurance company and the state for homesteading
we have very low property taxes
and have our rv ready to go at anytime,
house insurance also saved us tns of $$ on teh rv if we had a full time policy, but if have a house and use the rv for recreational trips of extended timeframes its still covered. Plus we have a great place to come back to for maintenance and standdown periods, doc visits, etc

RE: moisture on walls

we use a house type dehumidifier
it draws out a considerable amount each evening
we are sealed up pretty tight the aire we breathe out and the lp and hot showers really adds up our threml windows will get soaked
so we have a dehumnidifier i got at home depot
works good
and save having to run the heater at such a high temp setting

RE: flooring options

Another item to consider- insure that your floors are warm so that the adhesive will set properly. Warm floors will help in the installation of your materials.
oh no, whats cool about the allure is it sticke to itelsf so no under glueing at all, it has a 1" strip cut out that matches the next piece
easy as falling off a log I hope .
i have been told to install it at around 60 f so as it heats up in the summer it stays real tight on the seams, so mid jan early feb ought to be perfect

RE: Supplemental cab heat a great option

Don't have the supplemental heat but do have heated seats. And since we just got the 2008 Chevy Silverado, I located the Chevy on the GM web site and made sure it had remote start. Before I go outside my Truck is warm it will turn on the heated seats and you can program the heat up or down for what ever key you use. Key # 1 is different from key # 2. And if its real cold we just plug up the block heater. However I have never had to use it with the Duramax. Because we never get to -20. GBY....
just can please everyone can you
fwiw the powerstroke wil start just fine at -20 as well, most folks use the block heater to aid in a faster creature warmth and less amp draw on the batteries.
i use my remote start, warm me up seats anytime it gets below 45, thin blood and old age
